My name is Miranda Li and I am a freelance artist/illustrator based in Sydney, Australia. Drawing and painting have been a part of my life since I was a small child. I love imagining things up, creating my own characters and worlds and then bringing them to life as a picture that can be shared with others. My greatest art influences have been the old masters such as the Pre-Raphaelites and Van Gogh, and watercolorists such as John Lidzey and Joseph Zbukvic. When I paint and draw, I take inspiration from the world around me; everything I see, hear and feel. I try to capture the beauty and essence of the feelings and emotions that inspire me to create a particular artwork to create memorable images that connect and resonate with people.
About work: My artwork "In Strange Lands" conveys a story of a young girl: a traveller traversing across mysterious and unknown lands full of strange and wonderful suprises. It is a story of our inner child, who remains with us even as adults, on the beautiful and elusive journey of life, forever curious, searching and seeking and absorbing the
essence of life and all that we see around us. I hope that this artwork reminds people of the inner child within themselves and brings out the playfulness, innocence and curiosity of this companion inside.
