My name is Sarah Cunningham and I have just graduated from NCAD with a BA Degree in Fine Art. I have always loved to draw, but it was only in Transition year at school that I realized that I could draw for a living and get paid for it.
My favourite mediums to work are watercolours and black felt tip pens. I use the tiniest nibbed pens I can my hands on (0.05mm) which is super fine and great for the way in which I draw.
I have shown work in IMOCA, The Back Loft, NCAD, Ranelagh Arts Centre and MadArt Gallery. I currently have work for sale in The Winding Stair bookshop on Ormond Quay, and Jam Art Factory on Patrick Street. I also exhibited and sold work in Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar from August to November of this year, which was so fun, its such an amazing building.
I find inspiration everywhere. I love patterns! I get most of my inspiration from old wallpaper, fabrics and china tea-cups, and these always feature in my work. I would describe my work as colourful, quirky, and nostalgic.
I have had my illustrations published this year in a book called 'Cents and Sensibility', which is actually in Easons at the moment which is really exciting. I'm also working on a childrens book with a lady in Scotland, and I have illustrated a book for the Kindle which should be out before Christmas.
